Chase changes check # field after next OSU

Quicken version R 58.14 on Windows 10 computer. When I pay my Chase Amazon Visa on the Chase website the next day it changes the check # field to this. This has been going on for around a year or so. It didn't always do it but occasionally comes back. If I change it back to Paid it will change it back to Paiduyyy, with the dot things on top of the letters, the next day again. It works fine with my other Chase credit card accounts. My old workaround was to delete the payee at Chase and make a new one and it would work properly for several months. Now when I try to redo the payee Chase says the payee already exists so I can't change it anymore. It also changes 5 months of previous reconciled payments to this strange behavior. Thanks for any input…

Have you ever changed the List of Items available in the Check# field of your checking account register and added this "Paid" entry to the list?

(My list has a user-defined entry, Direct, see image)

Some users have a corrupted entry in that list which always displays with the same trailing hex characters.
That corruption has been there for many years and the programmers have not yet fixed it. I suspect it's practically impossible to determine what causes the entry to become corrupted in the first place.

See if you can "Edit List" and remove the "Paid" entry or add one or two other dummy entries to the list.

Personally, I do not bother with marking transactions "Paid". When a transaction appears in my register, it's either done and paid or it's a reminder for a scheduled transaction coming due soon. Other than true check numbers or the occasional Xfer / Transfer, this field is almost always unused in my file.
