Log all manual changes to transactions

I am kind of new to quicken. When I can't reconcile, I get impatient and sometimes start making changes (Particularly with transfers) to try to get things right. (I have 15 accounts). Normally, all I do is get things more out of sync.

The only way to recover seems to be to go to a backup.

Being able to get a listing of all the manual changes I have made to transaction during a session could be very helpful, not only for keeping things in sync, but also better understanding how quicken works.

Making frequent backups can to make a psydo recovery for my mistakes, can get confusing to remember which is the backup I need.

As I use and become more proficient with Quicken - and my screwups become less frequent, the need for the log is less necessary. However, for the novice, or an intern, it could be a real time and stress saver

If you have issues with transfer transactions not being generated correctly:

For best results manually enter transfer transactions into your register BEFORE you downloadtransactions from the bank which contain the transfer confirmations. For recurring transfers use scheduled reminders and enter them a day or two before the due date.

Be sure to use distinct Payee Names for each transfer / credit card payment to avoid confusing Quicken - memorized payee entries.

That takes the guesswork out of the download and matching process. Because a correctly entered transfer transaction already exists in your account registers, Quicken should just match the downloaded transfer transaction to the existing one in both accounts.

I understand that creating correct transfer transactions based solely on downloaded information is an inexact science at best. At worst, it flat out won't work.
And manually trying to fix incorrect downloaded transfers is a PITA. That's why I recommend the manual method (above). It saves a lot of time and avoids problems.
