Quicken wont load - October 16, 2024
Suddenly early this morning Quicken Starter Canadian version would not load onto the desktop computer. Never happened previously. Quicken support spent over two hours troubleshooting on line and accessing my computer but with no success.
I fired up our Dell Notebook that also has Quicken loaded at 12:00 noon and the very same issue. The program will not load. I suspect it has to do with the last release they did which is corrupted.
Any one else having issues as of October 16th? Both computers worked fine yesterday.
Thanks,
Bob Petras

The previous released version from the current is R56.9 Canadian.
You could download it from here: https://assistant.quicken.com/patch/CAN3955ASD13/QWCA27.1.56.9MPatch.EXE and execute it to see if the issue goes away.
I would make a Windows copy of your .QDF data file before doing this just to be safe.
-splasher using Q continuously since 1996

We did try this with the Quicken Tech support but to no avail. They are to call me back in 40 minutes with an update. We even tried an earlier release. Again no success.
Take care,

@Boomerang are you using Windows 11 with Quicken?
In the past I have had updates to software not install properly and become unusable. I have used the Restore Feature of Windows 11 to revert the computer back to an earlier date (last date the computer and software worked properly). I do this as a last resort but it has worked for me. I had to do it 1 time with Quicken after tech support couldn't get Quicken working at all. I tell folks to use at their own risk.
Short instructions list and comments:
To use System Restore in Windows 11, you can:
- Type "recovery" in the Control Panel search box
- Select Recovery > Open System Restore
- Select Next in the Restore system files and settings box
- Select the restore point you want to use
- Select Scan for affected programs
- Select Yes to start restoring
- Click Finish
System Restore is a tool that can help repair a computer's software and return it to a working state without reinstalling the operating system. It does this by reverting to a previously saved "snapshot" of the system files and Windows registry, known as a restore point. System Restore won't affect personal files, but it will remove any apps, drivers, or updates installed after the restore point was created. You can create restore points manually or automatically, and the utility will create a restore point once a day by default.
Windows 11 (2 separate computers)..... Quicken Premier.. HAVE USED QUICKEN CONTINUOUSLY SINCE 1985.
