Equity Prices - closing prices from previous day not available before markets open day after
We have several US-based brokerage and IRA accounts split among multiple firms. For this issue, eTrade equity prices seem to agree between eTrade and Quicken for Mac. Schwab equity prices and Quicken for Mac do not. The Schwab/QfM difference for the latter this morning is ~5% (4.752281%) below actual closing price.
I called in to discuss and was told three things - 1) that QfM uses a 3rd party (of course they do) and that that provider is the issue that is causing them not to display correct pricing more than 12 hours after closing prices are settled, 2) that the agent would send the issue to the developers for review and 3) that there would be no communication back to me because the developers do not communicate back about customer issues.
re: 1) I completely understand that QfM would go through a 3rd party. What I don't understand is why QfM would find it acceptable to go with a provider that is this bad at gathering accurate closing prices - free websites due a better job. Anyone with insight into why Quicken deems this acceptable service?
re: 2) Very happy that the agent realized that the situation requires reporting. However, their first answer was to push it off. Only when I further explained that it was almost 5% off on closing prices from greater than 12 hours before and was before markets opened did the agent offer that he would be contacting the developers
re: 3) I deal with several (about 8 daily) online service providers of equity information. They all have their quirks. However, QfM is the only one of these that seems not to open a case and update their paying customer as to their determinations and attempted fixes.
Net objectives in posting this - I believe that QfM should be delivering accurate market closing prices for in-country customers and brokerages when polling for those prices next day at a minimum. As a stretch goal, delivering them 4 hours after would be better.
Are my objectives unrealistic for Quicken for Mac?
