Can anyone help why the update install is broken?

Are you updating from within Quicken? What error are you getting? Does your Quicken still work OK after the error?

You can download the patch from here and run it. Make sure to backup your data file beforehand.

Here's another ongoing thread with issue.

Thanks for the reference to the other update problem. Symptoms were different for that issue, so we can keep this open also.

Question 1: Updating is happening from a Quicken process that automatically runs when Quicken starts. It checks for updates, and offers to download and install if it finds one. I let it update to R59.18. Question 2: The update just keeps running, runs for hours. No error messages. Question 3: Quicken seems to work properly after a day. This is Quicken Classic Business and Personal, Win10 64bit.

Does the patch or updating inside of Quicken work properly, or does it also run for hours and hours?

Something is corrupt as the update should only take 20, maybe 30 seconds to complete. Could be the Quicken program, but I wouldn't rule out a Windows environment issue. I would launch the existing program and run Validate and Super Validate to check the data file. Repair anything that is amiss. If that doesn't work, from an elevated command line, run SFC /SCANNOW to check your Windows installation. If Windows repairs don't resolve the issue, I would uninstall Quicken and re-install the latest version from scratch.

When I do an update to R59.18, the file extraction seems to work, but I get the same "The update failed to install" error. This happens whether I use the built-in update or if I download the patch and open it. Quicken still works under R59.6, but the update error has occurred several time.
