How Can I Add a Missing CUSIP to a Mutual Fund?

I have a couple Fidelity managed mutual fund accounts that added FSCJX a month or so ago. The account already included FSAMX. Since then, I noticed Quicken pops up a Securities Comparison Mismatch. between the two. I just ignored it for awhile thinking it may correct itself. Wrong. After some investigation, I noticed some comments about CUSIPs may be the suspected culprit. Checking the Security List in Quicken, I noticed that FSCJX did not show a CUSIP. I assume Quicken must be confusing the two (by name?). I don't see a way to edit the Security Listing to add the CUSIP. If anyone has encountered a problem like this, can you confirm my suspicions about the CUSIP, and possibly how to correct the problem?

Just for the fun of it, I just created a brand new quicken file with just the suspected accounts. The CUSIP for FSCJX was correctly associated and holdings seemed to be correctly reported with no mismatches. Therefore, it would appear that simply adding the missing CUSIP could solve the problem.

I am using Quicken Classic Premier.

You cannot simply add the CUSIP. You need to match the downloading security to a security in your Quicken file. I don't know specifically why that did not happen when FSCJX first appeared.

    What I would do:

First, I'd make sure I had a good backup on hand.

Create the FSCJX security in your Quicken file if it does not already exist in the file. Make sure the ticker is correct.

(Optional) Since there seems to be some confusion with the FSAMX security already in your Quicken file, I would edit the details of that security and uncheck the box about Matched with online security.

From there, I'd go Tools / Online Center. Select the correct Financial institution, Holdings tab, correct account. Click the Compare portfolio.

That should present you with the opportunity to match what Fidelity is downloading as FSCJX to the correct security in your file. If you undid the box for FSAMX, you should also get the opportunity to rematch that one.

That is the way you get the correct CUSIP associated to the correct Quicken security.

Thanks for your prompt reply. I tried what you suggested (at least I think I did). The FSCJX was already created, so I left it alone. As stated previously, the Security List does not show any CUSIP associated with it. Also, in the Edit Security Details, the Matched with online security is faded and unchecked. Despite that, I performed the suggested (Optional) actions for FSAMX. All that seemed to do was remove the CUSIP that was previously associated with it, ultimately resulting in a faded Matched with online security block in its Security Details.

Since there are only 3 buy FSCJX transactions in each of the two accounts, I decided to delete them and then delete the FSCJX security entirely. After doing that, I figured that I could add the security back in and it would include the CUSIP in doing so. Nope, still no CUSIP, leading me to believe (since the test account mentioned in the earlier post seemed to include it), the CUSIP is only added when added as part of being a new symbol during a Quicken update from the broker.

Unless there are any other ideas, I think my next suicide step will be to wait until I see a new downloaded transaction for FSCJX. Before I accept it, I will go ahead and delete the transaction history and the security in my Quicken file, forcing the update to add the security in. Fingers crossed that it will include the CUSIP and that I'll eventually get this straightened out, and Thank God for backups.
