Bank of Montreal (BMO) CC-800 Error
Starting on Nov 11, 2024 I am getting a CC-800 error that my accounts at BMO have been deleted. I successfully accessed my accounts online directly on the bank website and everything seems to be fine. Is it a temporary issue? Anybody else encountering this error?

I've given up attempting to use Express Web Connect with BMO Mastercard account because of the multi-factor authentication and it downloads incorrect posting dates for the transactions. While Web Connect is significantly less convenient, it is reliable, more secure, and provides correct data.

@Artic Hare - Thanks for your feedback. I reconnected my accounts at BMO and that seems to have resolved the 800 error. I have not had too much of an issue with pending transactions. (I opted to see pending transactions in Quicken) With cyberattacks and spam increasing, MFA has become the norm everywhere. Guess a little inconvenience for more security.

The issue that I have with using EWC with BMO presently is that it provides the transaction date for downloaded transaction date and the posting date; i.e. the posting date - at least for the Mastercard, which is all I have with BMO - is wrong most of the time (because, most of time they should be different dates). If you have a Mastercard and you look at the transactions downloaded by EWC, you'll see that the transaction date and posting are always the same. But, that is actually incorrect - you are getting phantom date for the posting date. I know why it is doing this - I confirmed it with BMO - but, no fix is expected. Getting the incorrect posting date does cause some issues with reconciliation. So, I've opted for correct data over convenience.

You are absolutely correct that EWC changes all the transaction dates to the posting date. So far, I find the auto reconciliation works fine and that seems to be ok with me. Thanks and have a nice day.
