Quicken Deluxe Windows R59.35 Problem Connecting with Bank of Hawaii

I cannot import the QFX file for my checking account with Bank of Hawaii. I get an error message - Quicken is unable to complete your request (OL-221-A). After I import the QFX file into Quicken, it does not open another window asking to import the file. I could import the QFX file for my savings account but for some reason it won't complete for my checking account. I am using the Quicken WebConnect Conversion Instructions for windows posted on the bank website.

    Hello @du20,

    Financial institutions create specifically formatted Quicken files to facilitate transaction downloads. Sometimes, these files are changed in a way that prevents them from downloading. You may follow this link to access a FAQ that provides more information and troubleshooting steps. It is recommended that a backup be saved before proceeding

    I hope this helps!

    Thanks, Jasmine. I've tried resolving my issue by using the instructions in your link. I feel my issue is with Quicken since the window asking to import the file did not open. It's strange that I could download the QFX file for my savings account but not with my checking which leads me to believe the issue is with Quicken??? I will also check with my bank as well.

    Hello @du20,

    I do apologize for my delayed response.

    Have you attempted the troubleshooting steps below?

    If the issue is not resolved after waiting, you will need to identify the connection type of the affected account(s) to determine what next steps need to be taken. To do this, go to Tools > Account List, find the affected account(s), and confirm the connection type in parentheses in the Transaction Download column.

    • Direct Connect - You will need to contact your financial institution to resolve this issue. Quicken does not have access to the financial institution's servers to correct the problem. This may require you ask to speak with an online services specialist that handles transaction download issues at the financial institution. If your financial institution states they can't assist, an escalation with the financial institution may be necessary.
    • Express Web Connect - Please contact Quicken Support for assistance.
    • Web Connect (Importing a QFX file from your bank's website) - Receiving this error when downloading a QFX file directly from your bank's website indicates an issue with the file itself. You will need to contact your bank to resolve this issue.

    Let me know!

    @du20 I would love to know what BOH tells you. I am having the same issue - unable to import QFX files into Quicken. BOH says it is Quicken's issue.

    Also have this error. Called BoH online service rep and all they had was a long script which they read and I didn't really get it all but it sounded like remove online services from any BoH accounts and retry. Did and it still doesn't work. I took a look at the .qfx file and it seemed OK. Then looked at CONNLOG.TXT and it had logged

    20241202 17:00:32: Not all required fields present. Object: BANKACCTFROM missing tag: ACCTTYPE
    20241202 17:00:32:
    20241202 17:01:07: Not all required fields present. Object: BANKACCTFROM missing tag: ACCTTYPE
    20241202 17:01:07:
    20241202 17:03:27: Not all required fields present. Object: BANKACCTFROM missing tag: ACCTTYPE
    20241202 17:03:28:

    So I looked at the qfx files and I do see in

    <BANKACCTFROM>

    <BANKID>redacted

    <ACCTID>redacted

    <ACCTTYPE>NOW

    </BANKACCTFROM>

    so without knowing the full syntax can only say it seems to have the needed data, unless ACCTTYPE "NOW" is an invalid type.

    After removing online service for BoH I tried to re-enable it, and Quicken gives a CC-501 error and logs a bunch of the call stack to qw.log but other than seeing a bunch of "DbC EnsureViolation" errors getting logged nothing I can do without the code to look at.

    I received a call back from BOH with no solution. Since I have the time to concentrate on this, I made sure Quicken, Google Chrome & Firefox was up to date. I cleared all previous downloads and downloaded new QFX files (checking & savings) from BOH. The checking import gave me an error "Quicken is unable to complete your request", [OL-221-A]. I imported the QFX file for the savings which imported and received a message "One Step Update Complete". I went to Tools/Account List and found the savings account. Under Transaction Download, the savings stated Yes (Improve Connection). I clicked on the Improve Connection and followed the instructions. A screen saying "Updating Your Accounts" took a while with other screens appearing asking for which BOH (Hawaii/Guam) and a screen asking on how you want to receive a code. Transaction Download now shows both the checking & savings "Yes (Express Web Connect). I need to go thru the checking as the balance is not correct and there may be double entries. At this point, I'm glad I'm back in business! Hope this helps everyone else having trouble. Dawn
