Foreign Currency Stock Creating Placeholders

Question

I have a brokerage account that holds multiple USD stocks and one AUD stock.  Because of Quicken limitations, I keep a separate manually updated AUD account to hold the one stock and another USD account that downloads transactions from the broker.  Quicken keeps creating a placeholder in the USD account for the AUD stock thus throwing off the value of my portfolio by the amount of that AUD stock.

Is there a better way to handle this?

Sorry to hear that.  Another shortcoming of QMac … although there are some advantages also.

Thanks @Jon, that's what I figured.  I might have the broker create a new account just for this one AUD position to solve the problem.

I don’t think there’s anything you can do except manually manage the USD account. As long as you have it connected it’s going to keep creating placeholders for the missing AUD investment to get the account balance and portfolio to match what the brokerage is reporting. I don’t know any other way to make it stop.
