Different check formats within same Quicken data set?
Can I use multiple physical check formats, each for a different checking account, within the same Quicken data set (i.e., one account with voucher-style checks and one with wallet-style)? So far I've only ever tried it with the same format, but would like to use a different one for a new account (old accounts are staying open and still writing checks.) Within File > Printer Setup > Checks it appears that there can only be one check format set per printer, with no way to set the format by checking account.
Thanks.

If I recall correctly, you could separate check formats by assigning them to different printer trays.

Yes, you can select a check style that's different from the default stored in File / Printer Setup / For printing checks.
But you have to select the new check style every time you get ready to print a check. You can do that from this dialog:And you have to do that every time you want to print checks from the different accounts.
There is no way currently to store an account - specific printer setup. If you're currently used to printing voucher checks from the old account, continue printing voucher checks in the new account.
There's a learning curve when dealing with 3-per page check styles and, depending on how "well-mannered" your printer is, it may be difficult when trying to print partial pages with only 1 or 2 checks left on the page. For my personal (and occasional) check printing needs I have always used Voucher checks.

Sorry, no. To use different check formats by default you'd have to have them in separate Quicken data files. Or be willing to switch back and forth manually as needed.

Thanks everyone. Not sure if I want to go through the additional steps, but you've all helped and I'll work through the ideas and see if something pops for me. Does anyone else think that this would be a worthy addition to Quicken (check formats set by account rather than by printer, or maybe by account/printer combo to allow for alignment)?
