What is it, is it complimentary to quicken, a replacement, or what?

I'm biased toward Quicken Classic although it has its share of quirks and needs for fixes and enhancements.

    Simplifi is an online alternative to Quicken. It doesn't work with Quicken (you can't even move your Quicken data over to Simplifi) so you need to choose one or the other. The advantage to Simplifi is that it's entirely online & web based so you can use it from pretty much any device that has a web browser. But it doesn't have all the features that Quicken has.
