Zero based budgeting in quicken
it can be done. I’ve been doing it for years. But it would be a lot easier if quicken allowed replication of transaction entries in they’re successive dates
I make manual register entries for each nonth over the next year or two for average credit card charges and payments. Never mind trying to budget by categories. I do daily downloads and categorize each transaction in the credit card register.
And for annual budgeting I have a net cash change category for the year. On the plus side are cash and bank balances at beginning and on the minus side are year end balances.
And I need a slush fund for expenses that are above average and. Monthly credit card charges that are below average. So I have a “Budget Cushion”payee with a miscellaneous category for that.
I use TurboTax to run an indicative tax return and enter the estimated quarterly payments in the bank account register.
Since I’m retired I’m able to plug In IRA draws as needed to keep the bank account from going negative at any point.
