Need help either importing data from a backup or creating a 2nd data file

Help! In trying to fix entries in my account I made some errors so brilliantly decided to get back to where I started by restoring from a backup that was a week or so old. Problem then was anything that I had done a update on between the backup date and current date would not download again so there was a one week gap with no information. Quicken "help" dept had me delete the accounts and re-add them which has left me with 90 days of checking acct info only and 24 months of credit card information. We use Quicken as our history of finances so this is a problem! Quicken told me to get bank to give us a QFX file which bank says they cannot do and even if they could, it would not have the data about who checks written to and why. So I need a data "expert" to help me figure out how to extract the missing information from a backup or how to have a 2nd Quicken data base that I can switch to for historical information. Does anyone know how to do this? I am happy to pay. I just need to be able to access our old information. Right now I can't even see what I gave grandkids for Christmas last year and here it comes again!

    A couple of possibilities.

    1. Quicken has 2 backup mechanisms, manual and automatic. Maybe if you're lucky, there will be a more recent backup than the week-old one in the BACKUP sub-folder of your Quicken data folder.
    2. You could restore the same week-old backup again and re-try One Step Update. This "should" work, as the backup has no knowledge of the transactions downloaded since it was created.
    3. If that still doesn't work, you'll have to manually enter the week's worth of data that is missing. Hopefully that's not too many transactions. Even though your bank can't send you the payee and amount information, it probably has a "show check image" feature on its website from which you can glean that info. And your credit card websites should be able to show you recent transactions.

    Good luck.

Thanks. Tried that but the bank and credit card company must flag what they already downloaded as it doesn't come down again with an update. I think I'm going to back up the current info, restore an old backup and throw everything into Excel, and then restore again from a backup that I do right before an older restore. I really need the historical records and can slice and dice in Excel once I have a file. Worth a try?
