Quicken shut down when trying to open file (Quicken 2017)

Quicken Home & Business 2017 Windows version— Quicken shuts down going between files. When I am in Quicken file "A" and then I go to File:Open Quicken File to open a different file (let's say "B"), Quicken pauses and then shuts down without accessing file "B". I can work around it by going to File Explorer and opening Quicken file "B" but I cannot open file "B" coming from file "A" within Quicken. Computer has all the latest updates and have shutdown several times. Any recommendations?

By any chance was File B originally created by a Q product later than 2017?
And, if you open File B first, can you switch to File A from within Q?
