File too large, locks up quicken Home and Business, Windows 10 and locks up computer

Using Quicken Home and Business for Years. The QDF file is 118 MB. It locks up my Desktop using Windows 10 (Latest Update) with TB of memory and a powerful CPU. Reinstalled Quicken at least 7 times. No affect.
Quicken support thinks the file is too large. They gave me suggestions to reduce file size. Did not work. Manually removed transactions, what a mess that caused. After fixing the smaller size file, 111 MB, it now works. I put Quicken Home and Business on my netbook, running Windows 11, a much less powerful computer. it runs fine with the larger and smaller QDF files. 😖😵 Any suggestions for getting the larger QDF file to run on my desktop with Windows 10?

Try setting the date on the Win 10 desktop to a date before the problem started. Then try opening the larger Quicken file. Does the file open?

Your file is not too big. My file is 112MB, all transactions, no attachments and goes back to 1996. The issue with your data file is not size, but something else and @mshiggins suggestion will help to rule out a runaway reminder.

Removed old accounts and removed transactions over 10 years old. File went from 111 mb to 119 mb. Why did it get larger with fewer transactions?

Did you try setting your computer’s date back to a date before the issue started and try opening the larger file?

I could only set it back 1-2 months, not enough before the problem started.

Just deleting items from the Quicken data file does not reduce the file's size, it just frees up space in the existing file for future transactions to use.
If you want the file size to get smaller, use the File Copy process on the File menu.

Have never known Windows to limit the date you could set your computer to.
FYI, setting the computer date to a past date is intended as a temporary thing just for troubleshooting purposes.Quicken user since Q1999. Currently using QW2017.
