Is global search still broken as of R60?

Currently, I'm using R59.18, but would like to know if this bug has been fixed yet?

If I try to search everywhere for "ACCT_c92", I get a search result of all transactions containing the number 92 instead.

If I search for "ACCT_c" using global search, no transactions are located (which is what I expected).

Is this search still broken or is there some technique to use to get it to search alphanumeric strings?

If I use "All Transactions" in the Accounts sidebar to do a search for "ACCT_c", it also does not work correctly and shows a nonexistent transaction as a result. In fact, depending on the last register I used, a search in "All Transactions" shows that nonexistent transaction in the last used account. Very flaky behavior.

I suspect that the account that you're searching for doesn't actually exist. It results from a corrupted Q data file. Have you tried taking a backup and then Validating your file?

Yes, still broken in R60.15 in the way that @leishirsute describes. Global search for acct_c92 returns every transaction with 92 in it.

@NotACPA I had validated the file and was checking for any occurrence of that account ACCT_c92. I didn't expect anything to be located. Instead, the global search found many transactions containing 92 in the amount. Clearly, global search is still buggy.

In the past, I have seen the above mentioned "ACCT_c92" in Quicken. I didn't find it after seeing this thread, but did find a closely named "ACCT_ce" Category by viewing items in a report settings dialog. You might find it in one of the Report Settings Tabs if you look there.

Are there really any transactions in your registers using a Category of ACCT_xxxx or TEMP_xxxx? Or are there just category names appearing in your Category List?

Had any crashes during or immediately after One Step Update lately?

There was a bug from several years ago, 2020 or before. Transaction downloading caused these temporary accounts to be created under the covers but not deleted when download processing completed.
No real accounts were deleted or damaged. You would have noticed that immediately.

You may find entries with these names in your Category List, but probably not in your Account List.
To get rid of them, run Validate and Supervalidate. After that is done, these categories will either be gone or you should be able to delete them.

If you're asking me they were not used, just in the Category names. I deleted it by right-clicking it in the Category list:

It turns out the ACCT_92 was a category entry and not an account entry.

Global search did not find anything because there were no transactions with that category.

I was able to delete the category.
