How can Quicken be made to recognize a TWAIN scanner

Quicken (R60.15, Build 27.1.60.15) does not recognize a scanner using VueScan (V9.8.41, TWAIN based software) on a Windows 11 Pro (v24H2, Build 26100.2454) system. Quicken does recognize my HP 8130e scanner (a WIA based unit) and when selected Quicken immediately locks up requiring a Task Manager/End Task to close. This scanner works fine with both HP and VueScan software. The device is listed in Windows Settings.

Hello @Woodchip,
I believe there may be an issue with your data file considering you are attempting to use a TWAIN-based scanner. I invite you to review the instructions below and then attempt to scan again. It is recommended to save a backup before proceeding.
Validate:
- File
- Validate and Repair File...
- Validate File
- Click OK
- Close the Data Log
- Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
- Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.
If the issue persists, proceed to Super Validate. If the issue is resolved after performing validation, then please disregard the instructions to Super Validate.
Super Validate:
- File
- Hold CTRL + Shift and click Validate and Repair File...
- Super Validate File
- Click OK
- Close the Data Log
- Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
- Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.
Let me know how it goes!

Well, that was a good and “valid” thought but neither the Validate nor the Super Validate was successful at resolving the problem. I also performed a cold start after the Super Validate just in case that might help.

Hello @Woodchip,
Next, I suggest resetting your printer settings. You can follow the instructions below.
- Open the File menu.
- Validate and Repair File...
- At the bottom of the Validate and Repair window, check the box for "Reset all Quicken printer settings".
- Close the Data Log when it opens
- Close Quicken (keep closed for at least 5 seconds)
- Reopen Quicken
Let me know!

Hello @Woodchip,
Here are a few more steps to try:
- Check Scanner Driver:
- Update Drivers: Go to your scanner manufacturer's website and download the latest TWAIN driver for your scanner model.
- Reinstall Drivers: Uninstall the current scanner driver and reinstall it from the manufacturer's website.
- Verify Scanner Connection:
- Power and Cable: Make sure your scanner is properly powered on and connected to your computer via a USB cable.
- Port Settings: Check your computer's settings to ensure the correct USB port is selected for the scanner.
- Check Quicken Settings:
- Scanning Options: Open Quicken, go to the scanning settings section (usually within the "File" or "Tools" menu), and verify that the correct scanner is selected and the TWAIN interface is enabled.
- Permissions: Ensure Quicken has the necessary permissions to access your scanner.
Please let me know!
