Quicken version questions
Here are my questions. I want to go from the Canadian version of Quicken to the US version. Do I have to create a new Quicken account in order to download the full US version, or will it accept my current Quicken account, which has expired(by choice)? I have let my subscription expire just so I can purchase a full download copy and not an update subscription key.
Can I also use the data file from the Canadian version to the US version. I live in the states and there was a Canadian version, on the shelf, that I inadvertently purchased.

Hello @Whyte1971,
No, you will not need to create a new Quicken ID/account as your subscription is tied to your Quicken ID so you can simply purchase a U.S. subscription with your existing account.
However, you will need to uninstall your current Quicken Canada program and install the Quicken U.S. program as the two have different version releases. You can download and install it through this link here. Please be sure to save a backup file beforehand.
As for your data file, yes, you can use your existing data file. However, after installing, you may need to sign out and back in after opening the data file. Below are instructions on how to do so, if needed.
- Navigate to Edit
- Preferences...
- Quicken ID & Cloud accounts
- Click Sign in as a different user (or it might say Sign in using a different Quicken ID)
- Follow the prompts to Sign Out
- Sign back in using your Quicken ID (email) and password
Hope this helps!
