Investment Transaction Report: Don't Use Two Lines When One Will Do
I asked about this last year, but just realized I didn't suggest an improvement. So, here it is.
In Investment Transaction Reports, don't use two lines in the report when one is all that's necessary. The above is just an example with a long-term capital gain distribution from a mutual fund. There's no re-investment. It's a simple, atomic income transaction. That transaction should be on one line, not two. There's no reason for those 3 fields on the 2nd line to have been split off. They need to be included on the first line.
This doesn't happen with just capital gains distributions. I'm seeing the same thing with MiscIncX and Added actions. I also see it with Removed and Sold actions (though that's reasonable since there can be multiple, different lots involved — though there should be an option to turn off the separate lots and just give the total on a single line).
