Error message "cannot open file"

I am a long time Classic user. I have stored my files on my cloud for a few years. I have had no problems until two days ago when I tried to open my file and it said "cannot open file". I tried a number of things the support page recommends, copying the file on the local drive, making sure it's not read only, validating the file, etc. I called and spent 45 minutes with Quicken support and the rep said there was something blocking the file from opening. I turned off all my norton security features but same problem. I called Norton and spent an hour with them and they said they think it's a Quicken problem. I went back three days to a restore point before my latest windows update but I still have the same issue "cannot open file". I also went to an older Quicken file which was on my hard drive - thinking maybe my cloud files were corrupted - same problem! I am out of ideas. The only other thing I can think of is that the newest edition of Quicken is conflicting with something. I had Quicken 27.1.60.5 prior to all of this happening!

When you upgraded from 60.5 to current version, Q automatically created a backup of your file at that time. Can you do a Win search to find that file, remove the "backup" part of the name and double-click on the file to open that?

IF NOT, I'd suspect that your Q installation is damaged. You might try to re-install.

Thanks, I appreciate your suggestions. I did re-install Quicken (current version). My cloud file doesn't open but I did get the file to open which is from Oct that was not filed in the cloud. Now Quicken is giving me a message with my current file (which I copied to my local drive) is conflicting with another application and that if my file is located on cloud storage I need to turn off syncing. The funny thing about that is that it's copied to the local drive. So it thinks the file in in cloud storage. Any other suggestions?

I have all my Quicken files in the cloud (PCloud) which I have had there for about a year. Okay, now I know that this is a no-no. I can understand how one file might be corrrupted due to connection issues, but I can't open any of my files, or back up files from my cloud drive. I have never had any problems in the past. I tried to copy the files and back up files to my local drive, but I am still unable to open them. I get the same message - "unable to open file". Does anyone know of any ways of getting access to my cloud files?
