Quicken is adding erroneous transfers after account updates

I noticed several months ago that Quicken (Mac) has been creating incorrect transfer transactions between accounts. I manually enter most transactions, including transfers, and use the account update feature to confirm when these transfers are completed. I track about 30 accounts for myself—both personal and for two businesses (I use separate business accounting software but rely on Quicken for daily monitoring). Additionally, I manage eight accounts for my mom.

For example, this week I transferred money from a personal checking account to a business checking account and manually entered the transfer. After updating my accounts today, Quicken created an additional transfer transaction in my personal checking account—but to a completely unrelated checking account for the exact same amount. Since the unrelated account did not have a corresponding transfer, Quicken also created a new transaction in it. To fix this, I had to delete the erroneous transactions in both accounts and re-run reconciliation so the transaction appeared correctly as cleared.

This isn't a one-time issue—it's happening multiple times per week, causing a major headache. Has anyone else experienced this? Any recommendations on how to fix it? I’d appreciate any feedback.

My first thought is to check Window > Payees & Rules > QuickFill Rules and make sure there isn't a QuickFill Rule that is grabbing that payee and creating the bogus transactions.
