Investment Account Balance Not Updated

At the end of January I sold the one holding in a small inherited IRA and distributed the proceeds, zeroing out the account. Quicken has recorded the sale transaction and the journal transfer of the cash balance out of the account, but did not adjust the balance. The result is that my investment totals are overstated by an amount equal to the market value of this prior investment, which continues to be shown as a holding despite the sale. What happened?

Check the transaction register for this account to see if there is a placeholder transaction which is constantly forcing the number of shares of the holding back to the original level. If so, deleting that placeholder transaction should resolve the issue.
