How to recategorize a payee with splits

I want to recoategorize my AT&T bill when it comes in so that it automatically splits 50/50 into home and business internet. Anyone know how to set that up or convert existing transactions as a group?

Hello @DoctorDoolittle,
Thank you for reaching out with this question!
To automatically split your AT&T bill 50/50 between home and business internet in Quicken for Windows, you can use Renaming Rules and Memorized Payees. Here’s how to set it up and apply it to existing transactions:
1. Create a Memorized Payee with a Split
- Go to Tools > Memorized Payee List.
- Click New Payee (or find AT&T if it already exists).
- Enter "AT&T" as the Payee name.
- In the Category field, click Split and assign:
- 50% to your Home Internet category.
- 50% to your Business Internet category.
- Click OK and then Save the payee.
2. Apply the Split Automatically
- Go to Edit > Preferences > Data Entry and QuickFill.
- Check "Automatically Memorized Payees" to ensure new AT&T transactions follow this split.
3. Find & Recategorize Transactions in Quicken for Windows
- Go to the register where the transactions are located (you may need to repeat for multiple accounts).
- In the Search field, type "AT&T" (or the payee name you're looking for).
- Press Enter to display matching transactions.
- Select a transaction and manually edit the Category field, clicking Split if needed.
4. Bulk Editing Transactions in Quicken for Windows
If you want to change multiple transactions at once:
- Go to the Banking tab and click Transaction List or Register.
- Use the Search box (top left) to filter by "AT&T."
- Select multiple transactions by holding Ctrl while clicking each one.
- Right-click and choose Edit transactions, then update the category with the 50/50 split.
I hope this helps!
