Downloaded and accepted credit card transactions keep re-appearing

I'm using Quicken Classic Premier for Windows, Version R61.17. About 3-4 days ago a problem started with downloading and accepting transactions into credit card accounts. The red flag next to the account name pops up, showing that I have new transactions to accept. I accept those transactions into the register as I always have, but then the red flag doesn't go away. Then the next time I open Quicken, those previously accepted transactions are not in the account register, but showing up again as new transactions to be accepted. I accept them yet again, the red flag does not go away, and then the next time I open Quicken I have the same problem.
Any thoughts on how to solve this?

You're living your own version of "Groundhog Day", eh?
You might want to take a look at Preferences > Pending Transactions, see if if that's "On" and if it is, turn it off. It seems to me that I've seen other questions along the line of yours with the Pending Transactions setting being somehow associated with the issue.
If that's not the source then probably the next thing to try is a file Validation.

Thanks, I turned off Pending Transactions and that seems to have solved the problem. Fingers crossed.

Unfortunately, the solution you suggested worked only once, so I’m having the same problem again. I’ve validated and super validated my file, I’ve reset the account and deactivated the account, but the problem persists. The problem exists with at least two credit card accounts. I’d appreciate any further thoughts on solutions.

Which bank owns these credit card accounts?
When downloading new transactions from a bank using One Step Update (OSU), you should always only get new transactions, not previously downloaded.
When downloading from the credit card (bank) website and creating QFX files to download and import into Quicken, you may get more than you expected. That depends on the webpage's selection capabilities: can you specify a Date Range so you can omit previously downloaded older transactions or must you always download a statement's worth of transactions, new ones together with old ones?
Which download method do you use? OSU or QFX file import?0 -
For what it's worth, I had very similiar issues with version 20 and I called support and reverted to the old version and it corrected the problem - I believe version 20 has a significant bug that needs to be addressed - I'm not going to update again until it's resolved as it also prevented me from reconciling my accounts because the system thought there were unaccepted transactions.
Revert to version 16 - you should be fine

To answer the question above, the download method I'm using is OSU. I reverted to version 16 as suggested above and that did not solve the problem, unfortunately. Should I revert to a version before 16?

I spoke with Quicken support about this issue and they had me turn on automatic transaction entry for these accounts. So instead of new transactions showing up to be accepted into my register after a OSU, they are automatically entered into my register without me having to accept them. So far that seems to be working. Sounds more like a workaround rather than a fix, but at least I don’t have to keep downloading and accepting the same transactions.
