Unable to change dates for scheduled transactions

Quicken user since 1994, and this just started happening a couple months ago. I have many scheduled transactions that I set up in the Bills & Income tab. Often the dates change because they fall on a weekend/holiday or the transaction doesn't post to my account on the day it is scheduled. I used to change the date in my checking account register to fix it, but now when I try to do that, I receive an error saying "Invalid Instance Date. The date you entered cannot be on or after x/x/xxxx". (The on or after value is the date following the original expected transaction date).

It's very frustrating because I need to change dates all the time for recurring transactions!

Any advice?

If you have a series of scheduled transactions you can't change the date on one of them in a way that rearranges the order of those transactions. For example, if I have a transaction scheduled on the first of each month, I can change the date on the March 1st scheduled transaction to any other day in March without an issue, but if I try to move it to April I get that error message because that would put it after the April 1st scheduled transaction. If you really need to move one scheduled transaction to a date after the next one in the sequence you'll need to mark that transaction as paid, then you can change the date to whatever you like.

I'm not trying to move it past the next scheduled transaction, I'm trying to move it forward or backward by one or two days. For example, I have a recurring payment due on the 15th of each month. On February 15, it showed up in my checking register as uncleared because that date falls on a Saturday. In order for my on-line balance to match my Quicken balance, I tried to change the date in my check register to February 17 (Monday), and I receive the error.

I've done this for decades this way without issue until a couple months ago. It's very frustrating.

I do this all the time without issue. This would appear to be a data file corruption issue. As a first troubleshooting step, have you tried validating your data file?

I haven't tried to validate the data file. I will do that.

There is no "Validate" in Quicken Mac, which is where this question was posed.

@bethwr You can simply mark the scheduled transaction as Paid or Deposited, whuch removes it from the schedule template, and then edit the date.
