Cannot remove account from One Step Update. Cannot remove bank credentials from Quicken.

I am trying to deactivate One Step Update for my main bank account I edit that account settings and select "deactivate" One Step Update. Quicken goes away and looks like it is hanging, but then finally after 10 minutes, it comes back with the "Add Account" window popping up.
My goal is to completely remove Intuit and Quicken from knowing any of my banking credentials. But I cannot seem to remove them once I had entered my bank login info years ago and then decided not to use this method at all. I download all my transactions manually.
My bank notified me that someone tried to login to my account in the middle of the night recently. And it turned out to be the Quicken / Intuit server. The attempt failed but was flagged as a suspicious activity. Turns out this has been going on for months (and maybe years).
But I cannot remove this bank account from One Step Update. When I sync stock information, this account continues to show. I have no way of verifying that in fact the account credentials have been removed.
How do I completely remove all account credential login info from Quicken and Intuit servers? I do not want this information floating around in any non-local server / cloud. No matter what is being promised as "secure". I'm happy with my manual method.

When you try to deactivate this account, is the computer connected to the Internet or is it running offline / in airplane mode? It must be connected.
Since you haven't used Quicken to download transactions, have you ever authorized your account to be accessed by Quicken? If Quicken, i.e., the Intuit server, tries and fails every night, you most likely need to allow "third party aggregators" access to the account, if only for the deactivate process to succeed. That authorization process varies by bank but usually involves logging on to the bank's website and looking for a Profile webpage which authorizes Quicken / Intuit to access the account. Authorize the account. Perform the Deactivate process from within Quicken on your PC. If successful, revoke the authorization.

Yes my computer is connected to the Internet when I am doing this. It is not in Airplane mode.
I normally manually download my transactions to Quicken. By this I mean, I use Chrome on my PC to login to my bank account. Once logged in, I go to the bank's download transactions webpage and download transactions. I believe this results in a small file being created on my PC. Once these transactions are local (on my PC), this file is automatically opened by Quicken and the transactions are loaded into Quicken. If I do not have Quicken open, the downloaded transaction file does not transfer to Quicken. Later, I can import that file into quicken to load any new transactions.
About a year or two ago, I did try to use a more automated approach but turned it off because if did not seem to work properly. I can't quite remember what the issue was.
I am using RBC in Canada. As far as I can see, there is no special webpage to authorize quicken. There is only the standard download transactions manually webpage. So I am not sure what you are referring to. Is this approach used in Canada?

So, you're a Canadian Quicken user and you're using the Canadian version of Quicken, correct?
Hmmm, that's different because the typical US-based bank download processes are different.
Unless Quicken Support or somebody here in the community can come up with a better idea, I can only suggest that you create a "template copy" of your Quicken data file. This copy process drops and resets ALL bank account connections. Afterwards, after switching to the new file, you'd have to see if you can download a QFX file from the bank into your RBC account again.
To create this file copy select File Menu / Copy or Backup File / Create a copy or template.
In the next selection panel do not make any changes to options or the Date Range. You do want a complete copy with all transactions. Be sure to select the same file path where your original data file resides and just give it a new name if you don't like the suggested new file name.1 -
I have gone ahead and created a copy of my file and am now using that new file as my main file. And yes, I had to recreate where the downloaded (webconnect) transactions are directed among my Quicken accounts but that was pretty easy.
This process cleaned up a few other things as well like the password vault hanging.
Thanks.
