how can I backout / uninstall an update?

Quicken Mac Subscription Member ✭✭

There is an error in the last update that prevents me from using QuickPay and BillPay. Is there a way to back out or uninstall the last update?

Thanks

Phil

There's two aspects to this - the app itself, and the data file.

When you update Quicken Mac, the older version that got replaced should end up in the Trash, so if you haven't emptied the trash you can get it back out from there. If you have already emptied the Trash you can download old versions of the Mac app from here.

Now for the data file. Sometimes when the Quicken app is updated it will make changes to the internal formatting of the data file. If that happens you won't be able to open the data file in older versions of the app anymore - you'll get an error saying that Quicken can't convert your data file. However, when Quicken is updated it makes a backup of the old file and you should be able to restore from that backup. In your backup folder look for the files with names that start with "BACKUP (Pre-Update)" and choose the one with the date that you updated the Quicken app. If you don't know where your backup files are located you can select "Show Backups in Finder" from the File menu.

Thanks to RickO and Jon. Looks easy enough. I have to check about the data files since it has been a week or so since the update and when I figured out the problem.

Looking at that Alert, it would seem that this is much more likely the result of a server side issue than related to the last app update.

I think the problem started just after the update.

I initially thought there might be a server connection problem as the the error first occurred with QuickPay. However, I now suspect the problem is local, not in the server, as all the information for CheckPay (payee address, bank routing numbers) is available locally.
