Bad performance in a banking register isn't what people tend to think it is.

There was a recent thread where a person was importing about 400 transactions using QIF into a checking account with about 6000 transactions, were also affected some other accounts that have about the same amount of transactions in them because of the transactions are transfers. It was taking about an hour to do that import.
I suspect (and said so in that thread) that it might have to do with the fact that automatic transfer detection is forced on for QIF imports (the only processing that is done for them) and it also ignores the "confirm" selection.
But this got me wonder what is the real upper limit of transactions in a non-investment account?
And in reference to the above problem, how long does it take to import 400 transactions into a register that has 6000 transactions (no transfers)?
For the second question it was only about 15 seconds on my lower powered machine (Windows 11 Pro, Intel N1000, 800Mhz, 4 logical processors, 16GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD).
So, I decided to keep importing more transactions and in bigger amounts at a time. For sure, the amount of time went up as transactions were added. But even at over 250,000 transactions in the register importing about 24,000 transactions took about 3 1/2 minutes (I'm sure QFX imports with all the extra processing would have been many times slower), nowhere near the hour that the person with the performance problems was having.
Speed of entering a transaction with that many in the register? I don't see any difference between that an empty register.
The one pain I see is scrolling. Not that it is "slow", but because there are so many transactions in the register if you move the cursor one screen up, you have moved very little. You definitely have to use the filters to keep what is visible down to a reasonable amount.
