Investing -> Portfolio -> Asset Allocation Report

Hi, I'm looking at my asset allocation and I love the Allocation Report. Today was the first time I used it. The only problem I've found is that I have a category for Cash that looks too large. Unlike the other assets listed in the reports I'm unable to drill down to find out which accounts are contributing to this amount. "Cash" shows up on the table is black while all the other assets are blue (see screen shot) and I can drill down. Any ideas what's going on and/or how to troubleshoot?

Thanks for your help!

It is somewhat confusing. You are looking at an Investing > Portfolio view grouped by Asset Class, right?

In that view, the black Cash amount should be the total of all the uninvested cash in the selected investing accounts. If you want to see where the uninvested cash is held, you can group the view by Accounts and click on the Customize button. On the Securities tab, do a Clear All and then select just No security (includes Cash).

A better place to view your asset allocation would be the report at Reports > Investing > Investment Asset Allocation. In that report, if you have a mutual fund or ETF that holds multiple asset classes, a Total Stock Market fund or a target retirement fund for example, it will break out the classes proportionately.

Hi Jim, thanks for your response. For some reason the cash in those accounts does not match the total. I tired the Investment ASset Allocation report also, it shows the same cash balance.

One way to track down this sort of problem is to change the As of date in the Portfolio view or the ending date of the Asset Allocation report. If you also restrict the accounts included, you can generally zero in on a problem transaction. Then you can correct or delete and re-enter the bad transaction.

Good luck, and please let us know what you find.
