Able to download transactions from new CC account number automatically

Question

I got a new card due to fraud. Previously, I've done the standard steps around deactivating/add new account. This time Quicken pulled down my BOA transactions from the new card without those steps. I did nothing but run an update and all transactions are there and accurate. I've done at least three downloads with the same, accurate results. Can I skip those previous steps for a new CC account number? Thanks

When an account is "closed" the financial institution (FI) does not really close it.  Instead, it simply does not allow new transactions to be made against it.  If there were some pending non-fraudulent transactions the FI would normally allow those transactions to continue processing and posting but they should have stopped any new transactions from being made with the old card.  Maybe the transactions being downloaded are these non-fraudulent transactions that were transacted prior to when you notified them of the fraud?

Or it's possible that the FI has linked the old and new accounts and transactions made with the new card is being shared with the old card.  If this is the case it very likely is simply a short-term transition period and that sharing will stop before long.  This is what occurred with a couple of card fraud issues I've had.  If I recall correctly, it was only a few weeks before that sharing stopped.

Does your online account show the downloaded transactions were made against the old card after you notified them of the fraud?  Or were they made against the new card but are downloading against t old card number?

Thanks for responding. It still shows the old credit card account number, but transactions are still downloading.

Go to Account Details and on the General tab does it show the correct card number for the new card?  (It might not show the full account number but it should show at least the last few digits of the card number.  Are those last few digits correct for your new card number?)
