Best report for rental income

Any advice on a report to use for rental income? I would like to a monthly breakdown by unit then property. Example is a couple multiplex properties with income per month for each unit.

I am struggling with the reports "wizards". I keep picking one and trying it with no luck…

Which report have you been working with?

AFAIK, the Rental Property / Cash Flow report is about the only tabular report available.
Here's an example from a Test file which doesn't have a lot of rental income and expense transactions:

This report sample is uncustomized except for setting a Date Range.

Thanks for the suggestion but I have tried that one. I get all units/properties listed on the left most column and then the exact same labels across the top. Results for year to date are a strange. In the case of a 4 plex there are 4 columns

and 4 rows with a total for the year in one "cell" the zeros in the rest? Also the total is more than the actual total…

I expected to find a simple report to track rents. This is frustrating, as I could do it in excel in 5 minutes.

The difference between the two reports is that mine defaults to "Column: Tag". All my transactions default to Category "Rent Received" without further subcategorization.
And, if the column headers weren't truncated, you'd see Tags for "1315 Elm Street Apt.A", "1315 Elm Street Apt. B".
Looks like I need to keep tags as short as possible in the definition for each rental unit, e.g., "1315 Elm A", "1315 Elm B", …

Try rerunning your report with Column: Tag
