Using Quicken on two computers

I've been reading the posts about using Quicken on two computers, and wish to ask an additional question. I have three Mac minis; one brand new one, my wife's that is a 2013 model and one that is late 2012 - this one is not doing anything. All three are on the same wi-fi network. Quicken Basic 8.1.1 is on the new Mini.

Is it possible to attach the old one to my router, put Quicken on it and log onto it from the other two Minis using the same ID and password, but never at the same time. Thanks, DG.

If you mean using Screen Sharing to remotely control the old Mini, then yes I think that would work since you'd be running Quicken on the old Mini regardless of which computer you were remotely accessing it from. But I haven't tried doing that myself.

And if Catalina doesn't work out you might want to check out Open Core patcher, that might let you run a more recent OS than Apple allows and give you a few more years use out of that old Mini.

I use remote access/screen sharing to control Quicken on my home desktop from my laptop. Works fine.

Thanks. I'd love to set this up, but I just realized that my 2012 Mac is running El Capitan, I think, which is the newest OS that it will run, and Quicken won't run on that. I may have to get a newer Mini.

A 2012 Mac mini should be capable of running 10.15 (Catalina). While Quicken is no longer officially supported on that OS it might be worth trying out anyway.

Current Quicken Mac flat-out will not run on Catalina.

RickO, I also use a home desktop iMac and a MacBook laptop. Please tell me how to setup remote access/screen sharing from my laptop when I travel and use my laptop. Both are using Sequoia 15.3.2.

You would need to set up port forwarding on your home router. Since that is router-specific, I can't really help. I'd suggest turning to Google or YouTube for instructions.
