Why does the online balance shown on my register not agree with the actual account balance??

I am on windows and use the on line Quicken version so should be always up to date but just like the previous discussion my

Online balance in Quicken does not match mine OR the actual online balance!?

This has gone on for months.  The difference is NOT pending activity.  For example the actual on line balance exceeds $6,000 but the Quicken on line balance showing on the bottom of my register is just over $3,XXX and that number has not changed for months.  Help please

The online balance shown at the bottom of the register is (suppose to be) a value provided by your Financial Institution.  If you are not seeing that changed for several months, it suggests to me that your FI is not sending that value, or not sending it correctly.  What methodology is being used to transfer the data:  Direct Connect, Express Web Connect, Express Web Connect +, a QFX file download?  Knowing that may provide a path to identify what data they are actually sending.

Have you tried to reconcile the account?

Perhaps you have one or more duplicate or missing transactions in Quicken.

Also sometimes when you reset the connection to the bank, Quicken changes the account's opening balance. This is generally the very first transaction in the register.

To restore the correct opening balance, you may need to back up your data file, then open a backup from before this started and see what the correct balance should be. When you know that number, you can go back to your working file and enter it there.

To help if this happens in the future, you can enter the correct balance in the Memo field of the Opening Balance transaction.
