I have a Quicken 2017 Starter Edition CD. My hard drive crashed, so I had to get a new one I reinstalled Quicken 2017 on the new hard drive. When I try to open my backup, it tells me your data was last used with Quicken Deluxe.
The short answer is that you can't. QW2017 has not been supported since 2020 so new installations of it cannot activated. New installations of it will set up a Quicken.ini file that is not compatible with what Quicken's server now requires.
You might want to read the discussion in this thread: Quicken 2017 on my new computer. It's a high level summary of what your options are but two of those options require you to have the Quicken.ini file from your earlier installation on the hard drive that crashed. If you have that file then MAYBE you will be able to get your QW2017 reinstallation to work for you. A much more detailed thread on this can be viewed at Re-installing Quicken 2017.
