why are some investment accounts now offering bill & income reminders?

QWin Premiere, Windows 10. R61.21 About 3 weeks ago my wife's IRA account started showing a blue dot to the left of the account name after an OSD. When I opened the account register a pop-up date box would appear. below the last entry (an empty entry with only the current date) there are "download transactions", "bill & income reminders" and "placeholder entries" columns. all of which are empty.

Now, about 10 days ago this situation has infected my taxable joint brokerage account as well. What is going on? I browsed the topic bill and income reminders, and it looks like there are a couple of new methods for money to leave my accounts for me to keep track of. How do I keep my investment accounts from becoming Quicken checking accounts?

If you are using this preference (which is sounds like you are based on the blue dots):

Then the behavior you are seeing is most likely due to a bug in this mode that has been there basically forever.

There are certain times where Quicken "needs to ask a question", like for a "Near Match". Normally that is shown in the Downloaded Transactions tab. The bug is that with this preference on, it will not show until you turn off this preference. Note you might have to jump out of that account and back in to see it.

Note that the "valid date" dialog isn't an "infection" it is another bug in Quicken Investment registers.

Basically, it thinks you are entering a transaction with an invalid date. It seems to be something to do with where the keyboard focus is, but I don't think anyone has ever figured exactly what causes it.

I did a One Step Update this afternoon (PDT) at Vanguard and when the update finished the two infected accounts boyh had blue dits beside them. When I clicked on each account in turn, they each had a pop-up box requesting a "valid date". I dismissed the pop-ups on each one and one account had downloaded transactions which I was expecting and the other had no activity.

Thanks Chris, I toggled off the "Automatically add to invest…." button, did an OSD and up popped 1 txn in each account with minor differences from what I had entered. Txns were from early March and with the Vanguard download problem it took time for them to show up, I suppose.

Yep. That is the bug. I wish there was enough people reporting it so that they would get it fixed.
