Q Win doing weird things with Brokered CD

Back in 2023 I bought a brokered CD with a 5 year maturity within a Vanguard IRA. I entered it as a CD with a $100 per share value. Quicken shows my share balance as zero, even though I have not sold it, and it also has a placeholder entry showing the cost basis as negative. If I delete the placeholder, my account balance drops by the CD amount.

In order to have my account value correct, I have to enter a "share adjustment" to get the share balance right, and it generates this placeholder that cannot be resolved. What's going on?

Does the security definition for this CD contain a ticker symbol (one which could be mistaken for a different security) or a CUSIP number?

Because of the above, is the downloaded Price History now incorrect?

Recommend you remove the ticker (or change it to something not used) and Edit Price History to remove all incorrect price quotes.
Also remove the setting "Matched with online security".

I'll try that. Earlier I had tried deleting and re-entering the buy transaction, and even though I have the 'purchase from account's cash value" checked, it didn't take any cash out. Just weird. I don't really want to reset and go back to an earlier backup of my Qdata file, because that messes up every account—having to recheck all bank transactions is no fun….

If the Placeholder is in your file with a later date than the Buy, it will prevent the Buy from affecting the cash balance. If you are starting over with this security, you should delete the Placeholder.

I think I'm just going to leave it alone. I've tried deleting the placeholder, and then deleting the buy and re-entering the buy—and it gives me an error that there is an unresolved placeholder with the same date, even though it was deleted and doesn't show on the placeholder list. On re-entry, the cash part of the transaction doesn't populate. So I reset with a backup from a few days ago-before I started messing with it-and I'll just live with the annoyance.
