How Do I Turn Off Quicken Classic Deluxe update at launch?

A previous answer on this forum said it could only be done by changing Windows behavior globally through User Account Control in Control Panel. I've never heard of a program that doesn't have it's own Preference to control whether updates are Automatic, Ask First, Notify, or Never. Changing the UAC control globally JUST for Quicken cripples the rest of my Windows experience. Surely there is another way? Perhaps there is a Quicken service running in Windows that I can disable. (There should be a menu choice within the program!)

If you don't like the idea of changing the UAC setting, then block quickenPatch.exe in your firewall.
The downside to it is that you will never know if there is a newer release of Quicken and every three to four days Quicken will fail to start the first try of the day since your firewall blocked quickenPatch.exe from running which in turn prevented Quicken from starting. Starting Quicken again will then succeed.
I use both since there are ways for a program to blow right past the UAC setting.
