How to remove a security in Quicken Mac

A few weeks ago, Quicken suddenly could not download transactions from Vanguard anymore. Then, in the most recent update to Quicken Mac, this was fixed. I changed the connection type back to 'Direct Connect' again and connected to my Vanguard accounts. Two of those accounts downloaded duplicate transactions, so now my balance shown in Quicken is twice what the actual monetary value of those accounts is. In the Portfolio view, I have two assets with the same name. If I could delete one of them, my balance in Quicken would match the balance at Vanguard, but I haven't found a way to do that. Is it even possible to delete one of the duplicate assets from the portfolio?

You need to delete the duplicate transactions, that should remove the duplicate asset from your portfolio. You should then go to the Securities window and delete the duplicate asset symbol from the securities list so it doesn’t get used accidentally in the future.

However, I have a cash balance in the account of $329. I don't see a transaction type for removing cash; is there a way I can do that?

I'm a little concerned why you had to remove shorts and remove cash to fix things but if you're good with it, we needn't dig deeper.

To remove the cash, create a Type=Payment/Deposit transactions, and use "Adjustment" for the Category. Adjustment makes cash appear or disappear without showing up as income or expense anywhere.

Follow-up question: I removed the duplicate transactions, and then had to Remove Shares, and all of the share balances are now correct. However, I have a cash balance in the account of $329. I don't see a transaction type for removing cash; is there a way I can do that? Thanks.
