OOB Accounts (aka Out of Balance account registers)

I have 2 accounts that are Out of Balance after downloading transactions. In one case the previous day the account was in balance, and the next day after downlosading, and matching, it was OOB, and only 2 transaction are involved.

I ran a File Validate/Repair on 4/11, just prior to these OOB accounts. This error appeared; QEL:Removed 3 qel records for payments not in register.

How can I find out the amounts and accounts of these transactions?

I just Reported it as a problem…

@Greg Brown it might mean Quicken couldn't associate a downloaded transaction with a account register entry, so it was deleted. I would compare the financial institution's transactions with what you have in Quicken to see if there are any missing transactions that need to be added back into your account register.

So… I opened a file from my 2nd computer from 2 days before I did the Validate and Repair. Updated that file, accepted downloaded transactions and all accounts balanced.

I then extraced csv files from both OOB accounts from both computers and compared them. The amount fields differences exactly matched the amount I was OOB on the original file. I matched the individual transactions and discovered that each account had at least one instance of duplicated transactions and missing transactions from the OOB file. Once I deleted the duplicated transactions and added the missing transactions, the accounts were in balance.

My conclusion is that the "QEL:Removed 3 qel records for payments not in register." was the cause of my OOB condition on both accounts.

@Greg Brown who knows why it happened. It's sometimes like which came first, the chicken or the egg. It would be helpful if the validate report showed more detail. In your case, if the validate report showed you which transactions were deleted, then you wouldn't have had to go searching for them. But the good thing is you were able to find the missing transactions.
