Cannot sell share - Premier for Windows

When I view the investing window my mutual funds/stocks , the data is all correct. number of shares, day ain, market value etc., and matches my Brokers data.
When I attempt to sell some shares I receive a message saying cannot complete exceeds numder of shares available. example a mutual fund has 575 shares trying to sell 85 share. Receive a message saying I only have 5 shares. This happens on all my mutual funds and stocks.
While I have not bought or sold any holding over a year, I have posted all dividens, reinvestment randaily updates, aand am running the current Quicken uodate
I called Support twice esterday, did screen shares and demonstrated exactly how I attempted a sale. For whatever reaso there was silence, the screen share terminated and the call was disconnected.
I would greatly appreciate any help or guidence. I desperately need to get this fixed THANK YOU VERY MUCH

In an Investing > Portfolio view, select all accounts and all securities. Group by Accounts and click on Expand All at the bottom. This will display all the tax lots of your holdings. Do these look correct? Are any of the share counts negative?
If so, stop and get that sorted out.
If all that looks correct, here are two things to try:
First, back up your data file in case something goes wrong.
Then select an investing account and hit Ctrl-Z. This will recalculate your investing accounts and may resolve this issue.
If that does not work, go to File > Validate and repair file with just the Validate file option selected.
If that does not help, repeat the Validate and Repair with the Rebuild investing lots option selected.

Jim,Thanks for response.

First item (simplified)
Select an investing account where you want to sell a security
Click on Holdings. This will show all of the securities in the account, among other things. Are the share quantities correct? (I think you said they are)
Click on the plus sign next to the security you want to sell. This will show all the tax lots of the security. Each time you buy a security, including reinvested dividends, Quicken creates a tax lot so it can track the cost basis of the shares in that lot. Do these look correct? Are all the share quantities positive, i.e. black not red?

First step - The shares match 575 & 575
After clicking the plus sign there is a slight difference 575 & 556 There are no red figures though

Maybe I should claraify that on my Investing page Each f my mutual funds is a entry by itself under the Heading of Mutual Funds. They are not within account ABC.
- woul I be ahead to just deleting each fund, recoginizing I lose all the history, and re-eastablish in agin as New? Or, is this problem in my Quicken program.
- My stock which has the same problem, has had no activity other than dividens. No buy/sell activity, no re-invest activity. This makes me think the issue is within my software.
- If I would delete the funds can I re-establish them without having the Cash to buy them?
- Thanks

When viewing the Investing tab's Portfolio view, please be sure that the view has Group by: Account selected.
You want to be able to review your holdings grouped (subtotaled) by account and not by Security regardless of which of your accounts hold a security.0 -
Have you checked to make sure that your investment account registers do not contain any Placeholders?
About Placeholders (Quicken Windows)
"N/A" in certain fields of an investment transaction indicates that you have Placeholder transactions in your account that need to be deleted and replaced with the correct Buy / Sell / etc. transaction that should have been recorded here.
For more about Placeholders please go into Quicken Help (press the F1 key from anywhere in Quicken) and perform a Contents search for "placeholder".
Alternatively or in addition to the above, please read How do I resolve placeholder entries? (quicken.com)0 -
UKR
The view is is Group By Account
I do Not have any Placeholders
Thanks Les
