Deleting A Duplicate Transaction

I have multiple accounts on my Quicken Windows Subscription. On one account only, a duplicate transaction appeared. The original transaction was correct. I deleted the second transaction and the entire account page dating back to 2017 was deleted. Fortunately I was backed up and recovered. Why did a second transaction appear and why was everything deleted?

My first thought is that you've got a corrupted Q data file.

SO, have you tried taking a backup and then doing FILE, Validate and Repair File, checking "Validate File" and clicking OK?

Did that allow you to delete the duplicate without deleting all else?

    Thank you NotACPA!!!

I ran it and it seems to have done the trick. I will keep an eye on the file now that I know what to do.

    Thanks again.

@mitchandy You're welcome. Just be sure, if you have to do this again, to take that backup first.

Under SOME circumstances, a Validation can actually leave your file in worse shape … so it pays to be careful.
