One Step Update issue

For this past week every time the One Step Update, Quicken brings in transactions that are over a year old for the linked accounts. And since there is no way to delete a batch of downloaded transactions I have to restore the file to a prior version. This is extremely frustrating & I've reported this issue already and no solution has been provided….any ideas of how to fix this issue? It's on different bank accounts as well as credit cards & these accounts were reconciled at the close of the last sessions. The Update messes everything up!!! 😡 [Edited - Language]

@mriv01 do you download transactions directly to your account register, or do you download to the download window below the account register? If use the latter, then there should be a way to batch delete downloaded transactions before they are posted to your account register.
To verify or change the method you are using, go to Edit→Preferences→Download transactions

@CaliQkn I download to the download window and I have looked for the delete all option & it's not there.
I have to manually delete each one & when Quicken brings in almost 2 years worth of transactions there is no way I am going to manually delete each one. I am looking for another personal software option as Quicken is having a lot glitches lately!

@mriv01 - There is no "Delete All" button. I think if you use your Ctrl key while clicking on the transactions you want to delete and then clicking on the "Delete" button, it should work. If you want to delete transactions in groups or batches, then I think highlighting the transactions and then using the Shift key while clicking on the last item in the list would work.

@mriv01 I think that happens when you download transactions to a new account in Quicken to fix or restore online connections. It also happens when the financial institution makes changes or updates to their system. I am not sure what is happening in your case without further details.

@CaliQkn these are not new accounts I'm downloading to & it's happening with Chase, Amex, Discover (all accounts that I have had for years!) I know Citibank recently made changes to their update systems but the others have not changed anything in a while. Also, I have not reset connections or made any changes to the accounts. All I have been doing is hit the One Step Update as I have stored passwords for some of these accounts & all these prior transactions show up in the download area!

@mriv01 - I think what is happening is when you restore a backup it removes the unique transaction IDs that Quicken uses to know not to download a transaction that has already been downloaded.
Edit: Do not do delete the downloaded transactions - please see my next post.
I would just delete these transactions and then not restore from a backup and see if the issue keeps happening. If the issue does continue, then I would recommend contacting Quicken Support. They can look at logs to determine what is happening.

@mriv01 - on second thought, DO NOT DELETE the downloaded transactions. You need to post them to record the unique transaction ID.
Before you download transactions, reconcile the account to ensure you are in balance (reconciled transactions marked with R). Then download the transactions and post them. You will need to go into your register and delete the duplicate transaction in your register. They would be easily identified because they are the duplicates without the "R". After you do this once, the duplicate downloads should stop.

Hi - you can also click on the 'Clr' field. that will sort the field - C, R, and blank. With all the blank transactions together, you can easily delete them: click on first transaction to delete, scroll down to last transaction you want to delete, hold the shift key and click on the last transaction to be deleted. The group is now highlighted. Delete.

I spent an entire day updating Quicken. When I got to the last item to post, I entered it and suddenly, Quicken added 7 MILLION DOLLARS to my account! I thought if I deleted the last entry, it would resolve, but it did not… I had to delete the entire file and startover. I've been ill for several years and wasn't able to work on Quicken. My accounts are completely screwed up. My statements were checked next to entries I had reconciled previously, but some were missing. I've used Quicken for more than 30 years and I've come to hate it!

P.S. I never wanted a subscripton; I always used a disc. Their money grab destroyed what had been a good product.

@b.a.teller I have had some similar issues…just today I opened Quicken & balances were way off even the layout was completely different from the last time I was in the file which was yesterday, Sunday! I have had several "glitches" happening as well. I'm looking for better options myself as the issues are getting more frequent!! Sorry you had such a bad time as well.

I too have had Quicken for many years and have archived transactions. One thing I've seen happen is that Quicken sometimes changes the account's beginning balance - that makes performing reconciliations more 'fun'. Last year I started putting in the account's beginning balance in the memo field of the account's first transaction. That way I can easily compare the memo field amount with the balance shown and see if that is the cause of the difference. If they're different, I adjust the first transaction's amount and that resolves the discrepancy.
