Why won't all my accounts update when I click on the Update Accounts button?

Quicken Windows Subscription Member

Also pending Transactions won't post. I've tried clicking on Preferences-Pending Transactions-Account settings-and no accounts appear to select. I have 4 checking accts and 2 saving accounts. I have to click on each one seperately to update individually

    Hello @rlhoweth,

Thank you for letting us know you're encountering these issues. To help troubleshoot, please provide additional information. Which financial institutions are connected in your Quicken? On the One Step Update Settings window, does it list those financial institutions? If they do show up, are they selected, or are the checkboxes next to them empty?

For the issue with pending transactions, since you said you already checked in Preferences to make sure it's turned on, check the individual account registers also. You can click the hourglass icon, near the bottom of the register.

    Screenshot 2025-04-20 at 3.39.20 PM.png

That will bring up a menu that you can use to verify pending transactions are turned on in that register.

Also, please keep in mind that not all financial institution support pending transactions. Depending on which financial institution(s) you're encountering this issue with, that may also be the cause of the issue.

I look forward to your reply!

On the One Step Update window, both of my financial institutions are listed and have checkmarks in the boxes. My Bank is RCB. (Oklahoma) They sync but do not sync all accts at once.

Re: Pending Transactions…There is not an hourglass icon at the bottom of the individual registers. It says Online Balance and Ending balance. Nothing about Current Balance

    Thank you for your reply,

How long have you been encountering this issue? You mention the accounts sync, but not all at once. Would you please provide more detail exactly what is happening? Are you seeing any error messages/codes?

If you're not seeing the current balance option, then you likely have that register set to not display reminders. Do you see any icon in that area at all? Typically, if you have pending transactions turned off in the register, you will see a grey hourglass with a line through it.

The absence of the hourglass icon seems to indicate that the account is currently not activated for downloading.
Take a look in Edit Account Details, Online Services tab to see what the activation status is. You may need to activate the account to have it included in One Step Update.

Kristina, I located the Reminders and now have the Current Balance on. TY. Re: the Accts not all syncing at the same time, I am not getting any error messages. I thought when I press the Update Accts button all the accts will sync with the bank at the same time. They are not. Only one Bank Acct at a time along with my Edward Jones Investment acct syncs simultaneously. I have to Update each acct seperately.

UKR, I do not have an hourglass next to the Ending Balance. I checked the Edit Acct Details, Online Services tab and every acct is Activated.

    My Pending Transactions is ON

    Thank you for your reply,

When you run One Step Update, all of your connected accounts should be updating. When you navigate to Tools>Account List, do all of the accounts that should be updating show connected? You can see if they're connected or not in the Transaction download column. Connected accounts with have the word "yes" in that column, along with the connection method.

Kristina, Thank you for your patience in walking me through these suggestions. I checked the Tools-Account List and they all have "Yes (Direct Connect) next to them. I went a step further and closed my Quicken Classic Window and then reopened it. Basically rebooted it. It appears they all synced at one time. So problem appears to be solved. However, it is still not picking up the Pending Transactions.

I noticed on your example one said "Express Web Connect" Could this have anything to do with not downloading the Pending Transactions?

    Thank you for your reply,

Yes, that would make a difference. According to our help article on Pending Transaction preferences, only accounts that use Express Web Connect to download transactions are eligible for pending transactions.

    I hope this helps!

THIS IS SO MESSED UP!!! I'm about to give up on Quicken. I tried Preferences-Pending Transactions-Acct Settings. The window comes up, like on the example, but no boxes for me to check. None of my accts show up in that window.

I tried Tools-Acct list-Edit-Online Services-Change Connection method. I was not given an option for EWS. Only improved Connection. That did not work. I tried again. This time I stupidly tried Connect acct. That doubled the accts in my Account Bar. I had to delete the extra ones.

Now "ALL" of The Balances in my Account Bar are incorrect. Example: One acct I had $15,912.84 - 600 = 15312.84 - 360.46 = 14952.38 The Balance in Quicken says $14591.92 which is exactly 360.46 off

The Online Balances and Ending Balances in Quicken DO NOT equal the Online Balance I have when I open my Banking Website

I've got another acct that shows a current balance that includes 2 of the 4 pending transactions on my Banking Website that are NOT in the Quicken Register.

Kristina, please don't give up on me. I need to get the Balances corrected in my accts

    Thank you for your replies,

Sorry for the delayed response. I was out of office for a couple days.

If possible, to correct the issue with balances being wrong, please try restoring a backup from before the problem started. Once you're back to a file where the information is correct (but no pending transactions), then make a backup of your file and deactivate your accounts with RCB Bank. Once the accounts are deactivated, navigate to Tools>Add Account, search for RCB Bank, and click Advanced options.

    Screenshot 2025-04-25 at 5.06.25 PM.png

Review the information screen, click Continue when ready, then on the next screen, make sure that Express Web Connect is selected, click Next, and follow the prompts.

    Screenshot 2025-04-25 at 4.59.26 PM.png

Once you get to the Add/Link screen, make sure to carefully link your accounts to the correct nickname in Quicken.

    image.png

That should get your accounts connected via Express Web Connect. Once they're connected, if the financial institution supports pending transactions, you should be able to make sure the feature is turned on for those accounts and see the transactions.

Please let me know how it goes!
