How to fix transactions that have not cleared in Quicken but have at the bank

Every now and then my Citizens banking account does not clear transactions even though they have cleared at the bank. I am using Quicken Classic Deluxe R62.16, build 27.1.62.16 on Windows 11. My Online balance shows that balance at the end of the cleared transactions, but my balance shown by the bank online shows the same as my current balance. How do I fix this?

What you are describing is most likely a timing issue that occurs most frequently with accounts that are connected by Express Web Connect and to a lesser degree with Express Web Connect Plus connections.
Financial institutions often update their servers with the day's transactions at night. The aggregator (for EWC and EWC+) is Intuit and Intuit usually downloads from the financial institutions at night and then holds that data on their servers until we run OSU when it is then downloaded to us.
When Intuit connects with the financial institution before their nightly server updates have been completed what gets downloaded to Intuit is data that is either partially updated or is not yet updated. So when we run OSU we get that partially updated or not updated data that Intuit has on their servers from the night before.
This is not a Quicken issue. It is a timing issue that sometimes happens between Intuit and the financial institution. The only thing we can do to resolve this issue is to do one of two things:
- If this occurs after running OSU earlier in the day, try running OSU, again, in the evening. This will often cause Intuit to request updated data from the financial institution which will then download to you.
- Run OSU the next day. (But note that this will resolve the original timing issue but it might also result in there being a new timing issue with new transactions from the day prior.)
It's a nuisance, for sure, but it's something only the financial institution and Intuit can change.
BTW, if running OSU, again, later does not resolve the issue, then this is likely not a timing issue but is something else. So, please be sure to post back here if this resolves the issue for you or if the issue continues for more than a day.

I've run OSU several times over several days, and it has not resolved the issue. I tried deactivating the online setup and reconnecting, but that didn't help. I am using Express Web Connect. I have discovered that the same thing is happening to a checking account with another bank and a credit card.
Last week Quicken said I had a negative 16,000 shares of a money market security in one of my investment accounts. Online I have no shares of that security and $16,000 cash. This occurred after all the shares (16,000) were sold. I haven't resolved that problem yet. Could that be why Quicken is not downloading transactions in some, but not all of my banking and credit card accounts?

Can you give us some more details about a specific transaction that goes missing during download, please?
Is it the same amount as other transactions on or about the same day?
Is it possible that the transaction downloads, but is mistakenly auto-matched to an earlier transaction of the same amount and/or payee?Which brings up the question: Do you automatically accept downloaded transactions into your register upon download? Or do you download transactions and, after download, review each downloaded transaction, make necessary changes and then accept each transaction individually?

It is a variety of transactions over several days, and as I have now discovered, this is happening in two bank's accounts and one credit card account.
I review each transaction and manually accept it.
Note: I just tried deactivating and reactivating the BOA account, and this time it did download the missing transactions. I will try it with the other accounts again.
Deactivating and reactivating the Citizens accounts worked. Everything is downloading correctly.
