Happy Annual Accounts "Online Reset" Day!

Seriously, what is the deal, Quicken? I have paid for and used your product for nearly 30 years now. For the first 17 years I never had any issues whatsoever. Over the last decade I have had to close multiple files and start over from scratch around a half dozen times due to corruption, the last time in Feb 2022. In May 2023 and May 2024 I had major problems where all of my Online services were completely disconnected, all in the same day. Fast forward to today ... it's happened again! It takes a few hours to go back through the process of doing the Resets on those accounts, because every time I do that, once it reconnects the accounts in Quicken to the online bank accounts, it imports all transactions from year to date. So I have to go through and manually delete dozens to hundreds of transactions for every Quicken credit card and bank account, transactions that had already been downloaded and cleared.

The biggest problem with this is that not only does this issue kill my online access to my credit card accounts, it completely destroys my mortgage account. It will only allow me to import the mortgage account as a brand new account. I do not want that, and I imagine not one person on Earth who uses Quicken does, either. What is the fix for this, how do I get my existing mortgage account back connected to my bank? It no longer even shows the Online Services tab when in Edit mode for the account. Ridiculous.

Why is this happening? Is this a "feature" of the software? If so, KILL IT IMMEDIATELY. This is beyond frustrating.

    I have notI have not had corruption. But I also had to go through the reauthorization dance like you did. Right now I cannot get my Wells Fargo accounts to update.

    Same here — I’ve been a loyal Quicken user since the '90s and used to have a lot of trust in the product. Lately, though, it feels unpredictable; things seem to break at random, and I end up spending hours troubleshooting. It’s really frustrating. I wish they’d stick to the old software adage: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! I already work as an IT Project Manager, and sometimes I wonder if I should join Quicken myself just to help bring some stability. Or perhaps it’s time they invested in stronger engineering and QA teams.

    Hello All,

    Thank you for sharing your experience. Which financial institutions are you seeing this annual reauthorization happening with? If they connect via Express Web Connect+, then the authorization tokens do periodically expire (depending on the financial institution, the tokens are good for anywhere from 90 days to 18 months), which may be the cause of what you are seeing.

    @RobUser,

    You specifically mentioned that your Wells Fargo accounts won't update. Are you seeing any error messages/codes? If not, then what is happening when you try to update the accounts? How long has this issue been happening for?

    I look forward to your replies!
