Budget and dividend reinvested

I'm wondering how to exclude dividend reinvestments and keep cash dividends in a Quicken budget report.

These dividends come from the same investment account. Cash dividends (Inc - Income (Div, Int, etc) are identified separately from dividend reinvestments (Reinvest - income Reinvested) in the Wizard trade capture screen. But they both point the _DivInc in the reports

I assume you're referring to the "Actual" column in the budget planning tool.

I don't think there's any way to do this automatically. The planning tool looks at Categories , in this case the _DivInc Category, and accordingly a cash dividend just isn't treated any differently in the budget than a dividend automatically reinvested.

One work around could be to create your own dividend Category - maybe "Cash Dividends" - that you apply when a cash dividend shows up in the investment Account and use that Category in your budgeting process.

I guess another approach could be to transfer all cash dividends in the investment Account to the checking Account - that could be one-by-one or in total at month end - and have that show up in the budget as a form of "income" - a "From investment Account" - line in the budget.
