Updating Without Asking

I have 2 credit card accounts that download new activity every time I request a download even though I do NOT requewt those 2 accounts. They are not flagged to download in the ONE STEP UPDATE. Is there a flag set that I'm missing? The updates are accurate but many times post before I even enter the transaction from a receipt.

If you don't want those accounts to jump the gun and automatically accept downloaded transactions before you have a chance to input your own new transactions, I would suggest you turn off the automatically accept function for these accounts.

Where are the "Auto-accept downloaded transaction" settings?
There are two places where this is controlled in Quicken for Windows:

    • Globally, for all accounts, in Edit / Preferences / Downloaded Transactions
    • For each account individually, the global setting can be overridden from the Edit Account Details screen, Online Services Tab. Look for blue text "Automatic Entry is: ON / OFF". Click the text to change the setting.

I reviewed - again - the auto-accept flags but none are set for auto-anything.

Are those downloaded transaction actually posting into the register of the card accounts?

OR, are they being held in the "downloaded transactions" area below the register awaiting your review and acceptance?

They are downloaded transactions… not being entered into the register. There is nothing "wrong" with the data sitting there waiting for me to accept the item(s) but I am unable to find a switch that was flipped to cause those two card accounts to download when I request a download on my brokerage account… a recent change, I might add. But I can't pin it down to a point in time or a particular Quicken update. All that being said, I still want to stop it! Sigh….

Are these credit card accounts activated using the same userID and password as your brokerage account?

In that case, AFAIK, One Step Update will download transactions for all activated accounts under the same userID.

No, the CC accounts have their own ISs/PWs. And the Update Settings have nothing checked as "Scheduled".

(I'm going to remove the PW from one of the CC accounts just to see what changes.)
