Hey Everyone
New quicken member here I currently uploaded my TFSA and Margine account and the balances reported are much less then what actually in there.
I am just wondering how to correct this
thank you
Is it possible that those accounts have a money market fund that is shown as a security holding in Quicken, rather than a cash balance? How does the total account value at end of day compare with the account value seen online?
On a security by security basis, have you compared the shares/units held in each security?
And, for any where those numbers don't agree … have you made the corrections?
And then, have you compared the quotes for each security?
Because the value of any security is simply the number of units/shares times the quote.
And the value of any account is simply the sum of all of the securities in each account.
You should be aware, however, that frequently there are penny differences at the security level for the value of the security as Q uses 5/4 rounding and some brokerages (Fidelity Investments among them) truncate fractional pennies. So, if the calculated value is $100.055, Q will report $100.06 and Fidelity will report $100.05.
Hey
Nope hold all individual companies in my TFSA and mostly margine and one T-Bill ETF to let free capital make some money well the market is so volatility.
Margine end of the day says to what I see is 30k different
TFSA is 15k different
I was thinking it could be because quicken only goes so far for transactions i might need to add it manually ?
pretty sure I found the issue for some reason it has all my holding in USD and not CAD. When I look under account setting currency is marked Canadian dollar is there anywhere else I can look to try and fix this Issue or do I need to change convert this and change it myself ?
thanks
Currency is set at the account level, when the account is created and can't be changed.
SO, you need to create a new investment account and make sure that it's set for CAD.
BUT be sure to take a backup before you do anything major (like this) in Q.
RE: "quicken only goes so far for transactions". That's why I asked you to compare the actual holdings to what your broker is showing. BUT, for a brokerage account is should download all current positions.
You can change the currency on a Quicken Mac account in Account Settings:
In fact I believe that's the only way to do it, you don't get the option to select a currency while creating the account.
@Jon, that's a nice QMac feature. Wish QWin had same.
