Separating 2024 and 2025
I'm using quicken classic version R62.16 for my small business. I'm wanting to separate my 2024 transactions from 2025. I can manually do it by filtering 2024 out. Is there a way to close out 2024 and putting it in a file by itself? New to quicken here and I'm struggling a tad. Thanks in advance for all help and answers!

Yes, you can using the Year-End-Copy process found in the Copy and Backup section on the File menu.
But, the real question is why? At some later date you will want to see some prior year information and compare it to the current year and since it is not in the same file, it means that you will need to export the information from the two files and deal with the combination and comparison using a spreadsheet program.
Also, putting the files back together is very hard and a lot of work.
Leave your data in a single file and run reports restricted to date ranges when you want to see the previous years and there is always a selection in the reports to only include "year-to-date".
My data file goes back to 1996 and I'd never think about splitting it. If I'm trying to figure out when and cost of something I bought, I only have to look in one file.

Have a read through this.
Bear in mind, and pay particular attention to the types of transactions that will remain in the current year file (you will still have some transactions prior to this year).
Some things to consider. Any reports you run are limited to the data available in the current file so you will not be able to generate any reports with 2024 (or earlier) data (unless it's one of the preserved transactions).
If you need to search, report, or lookup prior year transactions, you'll need to open the archived file to do so. You can only have one Qdata file open at a time.
My data file contains records back to 2001. I just use reports to filter out the accounts, timeframes, categories, etc., that I don't need. Save the report for easier retrieval.
