What is a delete of a pending transaction supposed to do?

In the Windows version, the list of pending transactions beneath the register has a [Delete] button to the right of each pending item. Does this button simply delete the item from the list of pending items until it is posted? Until it is downloaded again? Something more permanent that I haven't thought of?

I believe deleting a pending transaction simply deletes it, nothing more. I've seen pending transactions that I then manually enter in the Register with a correct date of transaction, (i.e., the actual transaction date, not the date entered in the "Date" column if you've not made a manual entry), and deleted associated pending transactions. I've had no issues.
